Here are some common issues with the E Class 210  other than a loose fuel cap:

BAS/ESP light on?  Stop lamp switch or brake booster switch.

Check engine light on? 6/8cyl=air mass, EGR tube clogged, (get a new filter when replacing it)

Window does not work or fell down? 6/8cyl=Regulator

Groaning noise when turning? 6/8cyl=power steering fluid low (check warm 80c)

Front squeak or clunk over bumps? 6/8cyl=Lower control arm bushings or front strut/sway bar bushings

Roof not working at times? 6/8cyl=Overhead control panel and possibly an new motor will be needed (updated several times, should get both to match updates)

Low oil level after oil change? 6/8cyl=Oil level sender (in oil pan)

SRS light on?  6/8cyl? Wiring/connector update, or, clock spiral behind the steering wheel air bag, or, seat belt unit, or, SRS control module. (you really need the code for the SRS and professional diagnosis)

 Hard start/no start at times or dies when warm? 6/8cyl=Crankshaft position sensor (located on the top of transmission bell housing, l/h side)
